Texas Coast Realtor Captures National Award

Anne Willis of Swedes Real Estate on the Bolivar Peninsula Wins RSPS Distinguished Service Award

Inaugural Award Recipient Honored at the 2009 REALTORS® Conference & Expo
and the 2010 Resort and Second-Home Symposium

The National Association of REALTORS® and its Resort and Second-Home Committee announces that Anne Willis has won the Resort and Second Home Property Specialists (RSPS) Distinguished Service Award. This award, introduced for the first time this year, honors REALTOR® members who hold the RSPS certification for their community involvement, innovative marketing techniques, and RSPS-related accomplishments.

“We are introducing this award to honor those who are making great strides in the resort and second-home real estate community,” said Mike Owen, 2009 Chair of NAR’s Resort and Second-Home Committee. “We are pleased to be able to recognize Anne for her dedication to her local community and to the resort and second-home sector.”

In order to receive the award, applicants must be a member in good standing with NAR, hold the RSPS certification, act as a source of knowledge for the resort and/or second-home real estate sector, and provide a service in the local community.

When asked to provide feedback on Anne’s dedication to the industry, one of her colleagues said, “I have worked with Anne for many years and have witnessed first-hand how she has managed more properties, made more sales, satisfied more customers, created more industry-leading innovations, and contributed more to her community than any of her competitors – by a wide margin.”

Anne was also instrumental in rebuilding the Bolivar Peninsula in the wake of Hurricane Ike. While the hurricane was still alive, Anne initiated a “Bring Back Bolivar” movement, gaining nearly 3,000 endorsements from all over the country and became the primary reason the state government changed its position from “turning the area into a state preserve” to “making it a prime example of modern urban renewal.” Anne is the president of the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce, is known as the driving force for nearly all the area’s leading community events, and her strength has helped in healing and restoring the beautiful coastal community of Bolivar.

NAR and the Resort and Second-Home Committee are pleased to provide Anne with this award. She was recognized at the 2009 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in San Diego in early November, and will be recognized again at the 2010 Resort and Second-Home Symposium in Lake Tahoe, taking place June 13-15, 2010.
