South Padre Island Welcome to South Padre Island! Beautiful beaches, warm gulf waters, fishing, boating, bird watching, shopping and a diversity of year-round activities make South Padre Island one of the fantastic vacation destinations in the world.

South Padre Island is on the southern tip of Padre Island. It lies in Cameron County in south Texas, close to the border with Mexico and is a true resort town, with about 3,000 year-round residents, and an influx of several thousand more when the winter chill sends northerners south in search of sunshine and warmth. Watersports are a major draw, from powerboating, sailing, and windsurfing to bay, surf, and deep-sea fishing. The sunsets are grand, reflecting in the water of the Laguna Madre, and many restaurants capitalize on their location with outdoor seating. The town of South Padre Island stretches along 25 miles of sand on the southern tip of Padre Island just across the Laguna Madre from the mainland, and the small town of Port Isabel. Easily accessible by plane into nearby cities, it has become a favoured place for conventions.
Port Isabel has stepped into the 21st century with a real effort to recapture and preserve the charm of this out-of-the-way destination. And they're doing a good job of it. Situated picturesquely on the Lower Laguna Madre Bay, the community is full of the colors of the warm Gulf. Tourism banners wave freely in the brisk Gulf breeze, promoting the city's historic "Lighthouse Square", a shopping and eating bonanza just off the waterfront, and the Port Isabel Museum, which offers quality coastal and historical exhibits.
Laguna Vista is essentially a quiet waterfront bedroom community and is the home of the South Padre Island Golf Club. Family and children are important to the community.
The town of Bayview Texas is centrally located between the Rio Grande Valley Metroplex, South Padre Island Golf Course, Laguna Anancostas wildlife refuge, Arroyo Colorado River, Laguna Madre Bay, and South Padre Island resort beaches. The Town of Bayview is characterized by grand country estates, large lots, parks on every street; beautiful landscaping with stunning lakeside views in a town with a legacy of zoning & architectural controls in place to preserve this heritage. |
