The City of Rockport, located 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi on Texas Highway 35, is the County Seat of Aransas County. Rockport, "the Charm of the Texas Coast", is the county seat of Aransas County on State Highway 35 on the Live Oak Peninsula between Copano and Aransas bays. Just thirty miles northeast of Corpus Christi in the southern part of the county, it was named for the rock ledge underlying its shore.

The towns of Rockport and Fulton intermingle and many refer to the combined communities as "Rockport - Fulton".
